Korean Facials
A facial is a professional skin treatment designed to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish the skin, leaving it refreshed, healthy, and glowing. It can help remove impurities, unclog pores, and improve circulation, which supports skin health at a deeper level. Facials can be customised to suit different skin types and conditions, making them suitable for anyone who wants to maintain healthy skin or address specific issues. Regular facials are an effective way to achieve long-term skin confidence.
At Dr Mélanin, we use products specifically formulated for skin of colour, which are less aggressive, to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory changes such as hyperpigmentation (PIH which means dark discolouration).

Frequently Asked Questions
Facials can be used to target a number of skin concerns including aging skin, active acne, dryness or dehydration, dullness or lacklustre skin, clogged pores, including blackheads and whiteheads, uneven, flaky, or excessively oily skin, dark spots or age-related pigmentation, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and rough texture and hyperpigmentation. and discoloration
Treatments usually begin with a gentle cleanse, followed by exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, and extractions if needed to clear congestion. A mask, serum, or specialised treatment is then applied to target individual concerns such as dryness, pigmentation, acne, or ageing. You may feel a mild tingling, warmth, or stinging sensation, which is normal. Massage techniques are often included to relax the facial muscles, reduce tension, and encourage lymphatic drainage for a brighter complexion.
Most treatments last between 20–45 minutes depending on the number of areas completed. Normal activities can resume the same day with some aftercare precautions which will be discussed in your consultation and provided in your aftercare advice.
Yes, our korean facials are very safe for skin of colour. The products we use are specially formulated with melanin-rich skin in mind. The products we use are designed to improve hydration, strengthen the skin barrier, and deliver active ingredients in a way that minimises irritation while maximising results.
Most treatments require at least 2 to 3 sessions to see any visible improvement. The normal skin cycle (i.e. the time it takes for old skin cells to be replaced by new skin cells) is between 4 and 6 weeks. The older we get, the longer it takes for skin cells to be replaced. Most skin treatments need at least 2 skin cycles for any improvement to be visible.
To see results, we generally recommend regular facials at least once every 4 – 6 weeks. Please note that results are gradual and improve with consistency.
Our korean facials are between £90 – £105 depending on the number of sessions you purchase. We carefully prepare bespoke plans for all our patients and some treatments may be unsuitable for some patients.
Not at all! In fact, our korean facials are quite relaxing!
Whilst facials are widely performed, well-tolerated and extremely safe, like any procedure, there are possible risks which will be discussed with you in detail during your consultation as these vary between individuals.
Some of the common and expected sequelae which are temporary and typically resolve within days include mild redness and mild swelling, mild dryness, tightness or flaking, increased sensitivity to sunlight, mild itching or stinging or temporary darkening of pigmentation before fading (a sign of healing which is common in skin of colour). These will be discussed with you in more detail during your consultation.
Our korean facials enhance the quality and health of your own skin over time. Visible results are not immediate and can take at least 3 – 6 sessions. We do not recommend a single treatment as you are unlikely to see any long-term results.
Combining our korean facials with other treatment modalities provides optimum results, particularly in cases of active acne, deeper acne scars, deep wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and melasma. Results also depend on age, skin quality, lifestyle factors and cannot always be predicted.
