Our Story
Established by Dr Vasudevan, a dedicated aesthetic doctor, Dr Mélanin is built on a deep personal connection to the cause. Through her work as an aesthetic doctor, Dr Vasudevan witnessed the challenges faced by countless clients with pigmented skin tones: inadequate care, avoidable complications, minimal research and limited options.
Determined to bridge this gap, Dr Mélanin was created: a reputable, dermatologist-led and research-based aesthetic clinic dedicated to providing safe and effective treatments tailored to melanin rich skin. We envision Dr Mélanin to be a brand that is committed to driving research and innovation in aesthetics in skin of colour, so we can provide even better care for our diverse community.
Dr Aishwarya Vasudevan BMBS PGDip Founder, Aesthetic Doctor
Dr Vasudevan is a skilled aesthetic doctor with a special interest in skin of colour, dermatology and minor surgery, complemented by her NHS practice as a GP registrar. She holds a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Injectables and Cosmetic Dermatology, has also pursued futher training in skin of colour through the Black Skin Directory and as a member of the Skin of Colour Training Society UK alongside mentorship with leading dermatologists in India.
Having worked across multiple aesthetic clinics across London, Dr Vasudevan recognised a significant gap in care for skin of colour clients. She has also led impactful projects within the NHS, with her research published in leading medical journals, most notably in the field of strength training.
Dr Vasudevan speaks four languages fluently, enabling her to connect meaningfully with clients from diverse communities.

Dr Vyoma Damani is a highly accomplished dermatologist with over 23 years of clinical, aesthetic, and academic experience in skin of colour. She trained at the prestigious Grant Medical College, Mumbai, where she completed her postgraduate training in Dermatology and has also completed the Specialty Certificate Examination in Dermatology in the UK.
Her early career was marked by her consultant role at Kaya Skin Clinic, India’s leading chain of aesthetic and dermatology clinics. Dr Damani was amongst the first dermatologists to join at its inception in 2002 and played a pivotal role in the success of Kaya.
She also built her own successful cosmetic dermatology practice in Mumbai, offering treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling, mesotherapy, laser hair reduction, photorejuvenation, electrosurgery and injectables for skin of colour, including celebrity clients.
Dr Damani currently practices as a consultant dermatologist in Essex, where she manages a wide spectrum of skin, hair and nail conditions in adults and children and performs dermatological surgery. She has also taken on multiple leadership roles in dermatology and has over 20 years of teaching and training experience, mentoring the next generation of dermatologists through her role as Educational Lead. She has also presented at international conferences, and contributed to clinical research, most notably in laser hair reduction in skin of colour.
She is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, the Skin Of Colour Training UK (SOCTUK), the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists. Dr Damani brings a unique blend of international dermatology and aesthetic expertise in treating skin of colour clients. At Dr Mélanin, she leads the development of clinical protocols and guidelines as well as guiding management of complex cases and complications. Dr Damani’s clinical leadership and unwavering commitment to the highest standards of care are central to everything Dr Mélanin stands for.
