Profhilo®
A gentle injectable treatment that deeply hydrates your skin, leaving it firmer, smoother and glowing, without changing your features.
Understanding Profhilo®
Better skin quality, from within
Profhilo® is an injectable treatment that hydrates your skin from within. It is made from hyaluronic acid, a substance your skin produces naturally, which holds onto water to keep skin plump, smooth and supple. As we age, we make less of it, and skin can start to look drier, duller and less firm.
Unlike dermal filler, Profhilo® does not change the shape of your face or add volume. Instead, it spreads gently through the skin, restoring hydration and encouraging your skin to make more of its own collagen and elastin, so it looks firmer, smoother and more radiant over time.
What Profhilo® can help with
Hydrated, firmer, radiant skin
- Dehydrated skin
- Dull, tired-looking skin
- Loss of firmness
- Skin laxity
- Fine lines
- Crepey neck skin
- Décolletage lines
- Ageing hands
- Uneven texture & tone
Profhilo® improves skin quality rather than volume loss or sagging. For deeper lines or lost volume, it works beautifully alongside dermal filler or anti-wrinkle treatment.
Why specialist care matters
In skin of colour, the signs worth noticing look different.
Profhilo® is very safe for skin of colour when it is performed by the right practitioner, at the right time and with the right skin preparation. Skin of colour is more prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and, for some, keloid scarring, and the early signs of a complication can look grey or ashy rather than red or pale. Our clinicians are specially trained to recognise these subtler changes, to prepare your skin carefully and to act quickly if ever needed.

Your questions
Frequently asked questions
Please reach out to us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
01What can I expect during the procedure?
A numbing cream such as LMX4® or Emla™ is usually applied and left on the skin for 20–30 minutes. Profhilo® is then injected using a fine needle. You may feel some stinging or burning during the injections, but most of our clients find the procedure fairly comfortable.
The injections usually take 20–30 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated. Mild tenderness and swelling in the treated areas is normal and usually resolves within days.
02What are the benefits of Profhilo®?
With Profhilo®, you may notice:
- Enhanced hydration and glow
- Firmer, tighter and more elastic skin
- Smoother texture and tone
- Softening of fine lines and wrinkles
- Healthier, more youthful-looking skin
03How is Profhilo® different from dermal filler?
Dermal filler restores volume and structure in specific areas. Profhilo® is a bioremodelling treatment: it spreads hydration through the skin and stimulates collagen and elastin, improving skin quality, texture and elasticity rather than adding volume.
This means it does not correct volume loss or sagging. Combining Profhilo® with other treatments often gives the best results, particularly where there are deeper static lines or lost volume. We will advise on the right combination for you at your consultation.
04Is Profhilo® safe for skin of colour?
Profhilo® is very safe for skin of colour when performed correctly, by the right practitioner, at the right time and with the right skin preparation.
Skin changes after treatment appear differently in skin of colour, and specialist training is needed to recognise them. Our clinic specialises in monitoring these changes, tailoring the treatment to your skin tone and type, and managing the complications that are more likely to occur in skin of colour.
05When will I see results, and how long do they last?
Most clients notice improvements within a few days, though full results may take up to 4 weeks after a second session, and can sometimes take up to two months from the first treatment. Your skin should look more hydrated, firmer, smoother and more youthful.
Profhilo® is not permanent, and its effects do gradually wear off. Results usually last up to 6 months, though this may be longer or shorter depending on your genetics, metabolism and lifestyle, and treatment can be repeated every 3 months to maintain your results.
06How many treatments will I need?
We generally recommend at least 2 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart for optimal results, and most clients benefit from 2–3 sessions.
The skin cycle, the time it takes for old skin cells to be replaced by new ones, is usually 4–6 weeks, and it lengthens as we age. Most skin treatments need at least two skin cycles before improvement becomes visible.
07Is it painful?
Most of our clients find the procedure fairly comfortable and describe it as a mild stinging sensation. We apply numbing cream beforehand to help minimise any discomfort.
08Are there any side effects?
Profhilo® is widely used, well tolerated and very safe, but like any treatment it carries some risks. Common, expected effects are temporary and include redness, bumps at the injection sites, swelling, bruising, itching or tenderness, and temporary firmness or numbness, particularly in the first 24 hours.
Rarer risks include infection, allergic reactions, a bluish tinge to the skin, cold sore flare-ups, persistent swelling, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and vascular occlusion, where product enters a blood vessel. The hyaluronic acid we use can be dissolved if needed, so please contact us promptly with any concerns. Because every client is unique, we will discuss your individual risks in detail at your consultation.
09Is Profhilo® suitable for everyone?
Profhilo® is not suitable if you:
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive or undergoing fertility treatment
- Are under 18
- Have an active infection, such as acne, an abscess or a cold sore, in the treatment area
- Have a known allergy to hyaluronic acid, local anaesthetics or bee stings, or a history of anaphylaxis
- Have a bleeding disorder, or are immunocompromised or on immunosuppressive therapy
